Roger Takes the Nagging to Your Phone

Deadline reminders move to your phone. The group chat keeps the trade talk β€” and now only carries a deadline for the owners we couldn't reach, tagged by name. Turn notifications on and you stop being one of them.

The Full Story

Roger has spent two years announcing every deadline four separate times to a chat that mostly already knew. Fourteen days out. Seven. Two. Day of. Multiply that by every draft, auction, keeper date and cut deadline on the calendar and you get a channel nobody reads, which is a problem on the one day the message actually matters.

So the nagging moved. Every deadline now goes to your phone through notifications, where you control it one category at a time. Out of season the chat still gets a single save-the-date when something lands on the calendar. In season it gets nothing β€” you have real football to argue about.

Except on the day itself. If there are owners we could not reach on their phone, the chat gets one post naming exactly those owners and @-mentioning them. Not the whole league β€” the people who were about to miss it. Same for the Sunday lineup check: everyone with a broken lineup gets a private heads-up, and only the ones we couldn't reach get read out in front of everybody. The tagging stops the moment you subscribe, and when everyone has, the posts stop happening on their own.

The trade talk is staying right where it is. Schefter's rumor mill, the trade-block listings and the daily speculation are not deadlines β€” they are the reason people start deals, and they belong in the room where deals get made. Still capped at three a day, still four hours apart, still with a Trade Builder link on every one. Two league-wide announcements survive in season too: the trade deadline a week out, and a Throwback Week kickoff every Tuesday that reports how many teams have locked an era in and how many still need to pick.

Net effect: the bot says a lot less and the league says a lot more. Go pick your alerts.
