Justice Is Served: Thundering Herd Is Dead, Long Live "A Bruin Pegs Me"
Two titles, three conference crowns, and a proud dynasty β none of it matters when you finish dead last in the D-League. Franchise 0014 has been served its punitive rename, and the record books already know it.
The Full Story
The D-League doesn't grade on a curve, and it definitely doesn't care about your trophy case. Franchise 0014 β two-time champion, three-time NL conference king, the Herd desk's own nostalgia machine β bottomed out the standings this season, and the league's oldest tradition came for its name. Thundering Herd is retired. "A Bruin Pegs Me" is what's stitched on the jersey now.
The old name isn't erased, just filed where it belongs: the franchise page's history tab still remembers every era back to 2003, the current owner keeps every year of stats and hardware they earned along the way, and the site's search bar will still find you if you type "Herd" out of muscle memory.
And the paperwork has now caught up. The new crest and banner are live across the site β a UCLA cheerleader in powder blue and gold, bat in hand, which for an owner who bleeds cardinal and gold is the part that actually stings. The franchise's brand colors moved to navy and gold to match, so every roster row, matchup card and player headshot backdrop wears it too. Thirteen trophies, third-most in the league, all still on the wall above it.
