Everybody Starts On League Time Now

The clock the site opens on used to be Eastern β€” a leftover from the Sunday Ticket board, and the wrong first clock for a league that mostly lives on the west coast. It is US / PT now, which is the time this league has always actually run on. If you are somewhere else, take ten seconds and tell it: name your zone once and every deadline on the site prints in yours, with league time beside it.

The Full Story

There is a specific kind of small betrayal in reading a deadline in the wrong clock. Waivers run Wednesday at 8. Lineups lock Sunday at 10. Every one of those numbers has been Pacific since the league started, because that is where the league is β€” and yet the site, if you had never gone looking for the setting, opened on Eastern and made you do the subtraction yourself.

That was an accident of history. The clock picker was built for Sunday Ticket, where an NFL kickoff genuinely does have an Eastern identity β€” the Sunday 1pm window is 1pm ET wherever you are watching from. When the same preference spread to the rest of the site, it brought Eastern along with it. So the starting line is Pacific now. Open the site having never touched a setting and you get US / PT: the waiver window on Free Agents, the deadline on Set Lineup, the ballot close on the Pecking Order, the draft start β€” all league time, plainly labelled, no subtraction.

If you are not on Pacific, go and say so. It takes about ten seconds: Preferences, pick your country and the one clock you actually live in, and from then on every one of those surfaces prints yours first with the league’s PT beside it. Maverick opens his drawer in Sydney and reads β€œMon 3:00 AM AEST Β· 10:00 AM PT” β€” one line, no arithmetic, no one-hour-off screenshot in the group chat at midnight. A handful of you are already set: the commissioner supplied the clocks he knew for certain, so if you are one of the Central or Canadian owners you should find yourself sorted without lifting a finger. Everyone else gets a gentle glow on the Preferences row until you tell us β€” it turns itself off the moment you do.
