The Hall of Shame Is Now Official
Every AFL franchise page now carries a full Team Name History β every identity an owner has ever played under, across every franchise slot they've occupied β with the punitive last-place renames tagged with a skull. Jesus Killers, Vit's Brother, Cock Gobbler: your sins are now a matter of public record.
The Full Story
For over two decades, this league has operated one of fantasy football's great honor systems: finish last in the D-League, and your team name belongs to the group chat for a year. The problem was the record-keeping β the evidence lived in screenshots, half-remembered arguments, and one guy insisting that Pubes was a punishment when it absolutely was not (we checked; it was voluntary, which is somehow worse). The receipts existed, but they were scattered across twenty years of MFL page snapshots like a crime scene nobody bothered to tape off.
No more. Every AFL franchise page now has a Team Name History section that tracks the OWNER, not the franchise slot β so when someone leaves the league for eighteen years and comes back under a different franchise ID, their whole record follows them like a credit score. Punitive renames wear a π Last-Place Rebrand badge on a highlighted card, previous owners of your slot get their own section (their sins are not your sins), and trophy counts, ranks, and championship tallies all follow the same owner-based accounting β no more inheriting a stranger's hardware or losing your own. The confirmed ledger runs from Jesus Killers (2019) through Cock Gobbler (2025), reconstructed from the league's official standings and verified year by year.
Browse your rivals' pages and enjoy the archaeology. Some franchises are clean. Some have one skull. One franchise has two skulls in three years, and if you know, you know. And to the 2025 D-League cellar-dweller currently brainstorming their new identity: the badge is already waiting.
