Sunday Finally Shows Up On The Homepage
On Sunday afternoons the AFL homepage now leads with the scoreboard β your game across the top with both crests and a running total, and the closest games in your conference stacked underneath. It refreshes itself every minute, so the number you are staring at is the number that is actually happening.
The Full Story
For as long as the AFL has had a homepage, Sunday has looked like every other day of the week. You would land on it, see whatever the league had going on, and then go somewhere else to find out whether you were winning. Not anymore.
When the games are on, the homepage leads with the scoreboard. Your matchup sits across the top β both crests, both totals, updating on its own every sixty seconds. Underneath it are the closest games still in the balance, and on a doubleheader week both of your games are up there, not just the first one.
Here is the part that is ours rather than borrowed: the supporting games are scoped to your conference. Twenty-four teams across two conferences means βthe three tightest games in the leagueβ is mostly people you will never line up against. The AL sees the AL. The NL sees the NL. If a game crosses over and one of your conference rivals is in it, that counts too β you have a reason to watch that one.
