That's exactly what I would want, players get credit for TD's like they do now and defensive gets credit for defense and special teams td's like they do now, the only difference would be return yards would be added for players.

Not sure what the rule is right now, but if a TD is scored on a return, I assume it goes against the defense/special team that gave it up. If that is correct, I think any TD return points for the score have to go to the defense/special team unit that scored the points rather than the return man.

The other league that I was referencing gives both the player and the defense the score which is also what we currently do so there wouldn't have to be a change on that front.

Can it be set that you only get kick return points after 10- 15 yards? Let's face it, those first yards are free and you're really only earning it after you cross the 15-20 yd line since you can take knee in the end zone and be at the 20.

If we add this scoring should we also add scoring to the team defense/ST or kicker for kicks that result in a touchback since they aren't giving up yards?

To your first point, I agree but I don't think we have that option, we have either return yards, average yards per return, or total return yards.

In regards to the second point, I think it makes sense on the surface but by concern would be that defenses already score a lot of points. Maybe if it was a super small adjustment it would work, but as I'm writing this I checked the available scoring options and I don't see that touchbacks as a stat that they keep.

as far as I know, you don't get yards for taking a knee in the end zone, only actually running with the ball!
We (my family league) scored it 1 point per 20 yards and it works well for those third tier type guys and what not. Lets face it - our rosters are diluted because there are so many bench spots and only 9 starters - adding this scoring helps some teams that need it. The return td's go to the individual, and are points against the opposing teams defense.
Anyway, I am for it, in any way shape or form.

Thanks for that brilliant insight. Did you know that water is wet?
