I've talked to a few in the league about this so I put together this proposal for everyone to look at. Basically the idea is to move away from tiers for points against and into the same format as we use for yards at other positions. What I did here was follow the same tier format and turned it into a sliding scale so it would keep the balance as we have now, there would be a small increase for the better defenses and a small decrease for the bad defenses. The general idea here is that each point given up during a game counts basically the same.
I realize that there are certain numbers that are impossible to hit, 1point against for example, but to make it easier I'm showing each point, its a little hard to show a spreadsheet on the forum here but each number below is in increments of one point, 15 points is for a shutout and 12.5 would be for 3 points allowed:
15.00 0 Points Allowed
14.17
13.33
12.50 3 Points Allowed
11.67
10.83
10.00 6 Points Allowed
9.43
8.86
8.29
7.72 10 Points Allowed
7.15
6.58
6.00
5.29
4.57 15 Points Allowed
3.86
3.14
2.43
1.71
1.00 20 Points Allowed
0.63
0.25
-0.13
-0.50
-0.88 25 Points Allowed
-1.25
-1.63
-2.00
-2.57
-3.14 30 Points Allowed
-3.71
-4.29
-4.86
-5.43
-6.00 35 Points Allowed
That is where our current scoring ended I'm not sure if we wanted to continue the negative points further it a team allows more or not. If we did I personally would want it be be very small even as much as -0.01 for every point after that.
sounds good.
