ACC Future?

Postby braven112 on Mon Oct 12, 2009 10:46 pm

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on this, we have openings in ACC due to terms expiring and another owner not being in the league this year, we could try to fill them but would everyone rather not have the ACC, my thinking is, with this group of active owners it may not be necessary anymore and I think more input on rule changes will help to keep the league fun and fresh.

Here's a bit from my other leagues constitution:

Rule Changes

* Any vote taken by the league to change the rules requires a 75% vote to pass (12 out of 16).
* Any vote taken by the league to change the rules between Feb. 15th and Week 17 requires a 100% vote to take effect immediately.
* If a vote taken between Feb. 15th and Week 17 receives 75% or more but less than 100% it will take effect the following season.
* Abstentions will be considered "Yes" votes.
* All poll votes will be final 5 days after they begin.
* Any unforeseen rule situation not specifically covered in the constitution will be determined by the league commish.

Some of the dates and numbers would have to be tweaked for our league but we've had a ton of good input in that league and have made some nice tweaks each year.

The other component to consider is trades, we could have some guys appointed to approve trades, we could just have me approve and have some sort of appeals process if someone objects or some combination of both.

If you have any input on how you would like the league run post it here...

Sounds fine to me. My only add would be that the rule change window should be something constant. For example, rule changes can only take place in the month of Feb. for rules of that year for the 75%. The 100% was fine. And having the commish approve trade, with an appeal process in place, is fine with me as well.

Fine with all. I definitely dont want league wide votes on trades.

I have no compaint with the new proposal. I agree that trades should be minimally reviewed - I don't think any trades should be refused unless there seems an absence of good faith involved - people can make bad decisions, and sometimes what look like bad decisions are genius. What would conventional wisdom have done with a trade of Forte and Edwards for Orton and Benson just 4 weeks ago?

I think the time during which rule changes can be made on a 75% vote might as well extend from season's end until a couple of weeks before the dispersal draft (while nothing much else is happening)? If there is a good reason to shorten that, I have no objection.I'm pretty good with whatever - except my roster ...

We have an ACC?

Kidding aside, I am fine with it disbanding but you could reserve the right to reinstate it should things not function well without it.

As far as trades go, I'm fine with you or a small group that take a look to make sure it's not obvious collusion but definitely don't want league wide voting on that.

i'm fine with commissioner approval of trades, and appeals process if need be - but i don't think that will ever be a problem. If someone makes a dumb trade, they should have to live with it. Collusion usually doesn't occur.

everything else i am fine with!

To a degree cause you do run into those owners that want to complain and propose changes for no other reason then to benefit their team and so forth. You can never please everyone in every situation and the second you try everything starts to fall apart. I know I've only been in this league this year but so far this league seems very very solid and I don't see much need for any changes to the structure currently running. Activity amongst owners talking on the boards is about the only thing I've seen as missing. Now that the message boards have been added to the home page where everyone can see that something new has been posted activity there should increase dramatically and make this league even more fun the rest of the year and into next season.

But as I state every time I give my opinion, I'm fine with whatever the comish descides to do in this league. This league as well as the Draftmaster and Auctionmaster leagues are some of the most all around solid league I've ever played and with that said I plan to be here for a good long time.
