NIT and determing the 2009 Draft Order

I wanted to give everyone a heads up on a rule change that we (ACC) had discussed and agreed upon but hadn't added to the constitution until now. The only real changes are that instead of 3 points being awarded in the NIT for finishing in the top 5 there are now only 1.5 points awarded, after overall winning % , fewest potential points is the #1 tiebreaker and now ties broken after the NIT points are awarded instead of before. I bolded the parts that are different from what we did last year.

Here is the updated draft section of the constitution:

Draft

The League will hold a draft annually. Only players not on a teams keeper list will be eligible to be selected in the draft.

The draft will be 9 rounds and it will be NFL style. The base order will be determined on prior year final week 13 standings. The Super Bowl winner will pick 12th. Any ties will be broken with the same rules as the AFL wild card tiebreakers.

During the NIT teams can potentially earn a higher draft pick, each team is awarded points based on their base draft position. The team with the worst record gets 12 points to start all the way down to the conference champion down at 1 point.

The top 5 finishers in the NIT will recieve an additional 1.5pts. The 1st round will then be reordered based on the amount of points each team finishes with. The team with the higher original draft position will win the higher draft position in the effent of any ties.

If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team regardless of Fewest Potential Points.

Below is an example of how it could look.

1. The Nukes 12pts (2-16)
2. Drunk Indians 11pts (4-14)
3. The Rookies 9.5pts (6-12)
4. Muck Juggling Micks 9.5pts (6-12)
5. Blitzkrieg 8pts (7-11)
6. The Street 7pts (8-10)
7. Gamecocks 5.5pts (10-8)
8. Fullybaked 5.5pts (10-8)
9. 420 All-Stars 4pts (12-4) (Playoff Team)
10. Smokane 3pts (13-3) (Playoff Team)
11. Marriedwithchildren 2pts (14-2) (Playoff Team)
12. Chatmaster 1pts (Conference Champ regardless of record)

Note: Ties are broken after NIT points are awarded and the tiebreakers are as follows:

Draft Order Tiebreakers

1. Worst won-lost-tied percentage.
2. Fewest Potential Points
4. Worst won-lost-tied percentage in games within the conference.
5. Lowest Power Rank
6. Fewest Total Points
7. Coin Flip
